Gary is a Clinical Psychologist who is registered with the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP). He has more than a decade of experience in psychological practice, and has worked in a myriad of different settings – including schools, community, healthcare, elderly, and social service. He started his career in the Ministry of Education; helping children with special needs, parenting support, and utilised systemic approaches to help parents and schools to support the child.

Since then, Gary chose a specialisation in Clinical psychology, and has committed himself to helping clients with adjustment problems – dealing with changes, shock to family equilibrium, occupational stress and anxiety, grief and loss, and chronic health management. Lately, he has found a new passion to help children and divorced couples out of their challenging relationships and access issues.

Gary provides a non-judgmental safe space for adults, couples, children and families to improve their emotional health and well-being. He is a proponent of strengths-based interventions, and strongly believes in tapping on a person’s resilience and qualities to overcome difficulties. He also believes in spirituality and mindfulness, and has applied these principles successfully in his therapy. He has received training in Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and systemic approaches in family therapy. Gary continues to keep himself up-to-date with trauma-informed practices, and embraces a message of hope and optimism to clients that recovery is possible.

Gary is inspired by people choosing mental health work. He is an Accredited Supervisor by the Singapore Psychological Society, and continues to mentor associate psychologists, social workers, and counsellors to become trained mental health professionals.

Gary has often received accolades in his work. He was the recipient of the National Council of Social Service scholarship and has received excellent service awards during his stint with the Ministry of Education. His clients achieve good outcomes and he continues to receive compliments from them.

Even though Gary has completed his National Service commitments, he is a patriot at heart and has extended his service as a Military Expert (in Counselling) to continue to help National Servicemen cope with their psychological challenges.

Prior to his specialisation as a psychologist, Gary worked in a corporate MNC setting, dealing with luxury brands as a purchaser. He understands the challenges to maintaining a work-life balance, and stressors arising from the modern workplace. He has led clients successfully out of difficult situations from group dynamics, social and performance pressure.
