Imke is Registered Member of the Dutch Association of Psychologists (Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen, NIP).
Imke has worked with adults and the elderly, and their support systems. She has experience in working with psychological, psychiatric, and neurological problems such as depression, trauma, stress, grief, anxiety (social anxiety, panic disorder, generalized anxiety), phobia, and cognitive problems (memory, processing speed, executive function).
The therapy methods that she uses are Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Client Centered Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Online Therapy. She uses a holistic approach, with a client centered focus, to get a better understanding of where the problems are coming from. Doing so by working evidence-based, making use of global guidelines, protocols, questionnaires, standardized tests, and semi-structured interviews.
Imke also conducts neuropsychological assessments. By testing she’s able to give clients insight into their neurocognitive functioning and provide psycho-education to help clients better understand the problems that they are facing daily.
As a psychologist, Imke is flexible and energetic, she seeks to find what’s most suitable for the client and, if necessary, she is able to combine different techniques in the management of the issue(s). She wants to get to know the person behind the problems, by investing in a close connection with the client and being transparent. Her focus is on making clients feel heard and comfortable in speaking about what’s on their minds. She works with and alongside the client, in a way that there is a safe space for the client to improve their emotional health.
