Originally from the United States, Laura is an experienced counsellor who is passionate about partnering with her clients to help them enact the change they wish to see in their lives. Everyone comes to therapy from a unique starting point - with different challenges and different goals. Laura believes strongly in working with her clients to offer a therapy tailored to their particular needs, histories, experiences, and culture.

Her approach incorporates various evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, short-term solution focused therapy, as well as various techniques rooted in mindfulness traditions. She is experienced in working with adults and teenagers on a range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, substance abuse, self-esteem, and body image issues.

She has additional expertise in working with primary age children, having worked as a school counsellor for international schools in Hong Kong.  For her youngest clients, she employs play-based and art therapy techniques to foster self-expression, identify emotions, build confidence, and strengthen positive relationships.

Having lived and worked in New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore, Laura is also attuned to the importance of cultural nuances in her therapeutic practice. Her appreciation for diversity is further informed by her own experience as a member of a multi-racial, multi-lingual family.

Laura completed her clinical training with Monash University, where she received a master's degree in counselling.  She also holds a master's in psychology from the University of Hong Kong.  Prior to her studies in mental health, Laura completed degrees in philosophy and religion from Vassar College and Harvard University.
