With over 20 years counselling experience in both health and education settings, Naomi has an eclectic approach to her counselling practice, utilising her background and experience to engage with the client and design individualised therapeutic interventions according to their unique needs. She holds a Masters of Guidance and Counselling and is currently based in South Australia.
Naomi was born in the USA, she went to Primary School in Papua New Guinea and finished her schooling in Australia. She was a Third Culture Kid before Van Reken and Pollock (1999)first published their ground-breaking classic of the same name. Now an experienced Third Culture Adult, Naomi has a personal understanding of the joys and challenges of expat life through her roles as School Counsellor at Jerudong International School in Brunei Darussalam (1998-2005) and United World College South East Asia in Singapore (2009 – 2018).
Naomi works with clients of all ages with extensive experience supporting young people’s mental health and positive wellbeing. She has a holistic approach with a client-centered strengths-based position, which enables her to connect with individuals and groups no matter what their background or circumstance.
Therapeutically, she draws on the principles of Positive Psychology, Cognitive and Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Systems Thinking. She is an experienced Mindfulness Practitioner and Laughter Yoga Facilitator who brings a sense of calm and lightness to the heaviest of times.
