Sandra commenced her counselling career working closely with families going through separation and divorce as well as couples experiencing tensions in their marital life. She is a Clinical Member and a Registered Counsellor of Singapore Association of Counselling (SAC). Sandra is currently working towards being a Registered Clinical Supervisor.
She is a client-centered Counsellor who believes in providing a non-judgmental safe space for children, adolescents, adults, couples and parents to improve their emotional health and relationships. Sandra is passionate about marriages and helping couples facing distress to explore past issues, reframe, seek to restore communication, and increase closeness, affection and respect. She has been able to establish positive change and to improve children’s psychological adjustment to family transitions. With children, Sandra uses play therapy, art therapy, sand tray therapy and Lego play as mediums to communicate, make assessments and provide interventions. She is a proponent of strength-based interventions and is trained in Discernment Counselling, Gottman Method Couple Therapy Level 1 and 2, Gestalt Play Therapy (Basic, Intermediate and Advance Level) and Trauma-informed Play Therapy. She is also a Certified Prepare and Enrich Facilitator and Accredited Triple P Level 3 and Family Transitions Provider. In therapy, Sandra uses different evidence-based approaches including Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy.
Sandra has lived and worked in Canada (Toronto and Vancouver), France (Paris) and Singapore, providing her with a multiculturally sensitive lens in her approach. Prior to counselling, she was in the financial and marketing industries. Having experience in both Multi-national Corporations (MNCs) and Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), she is able to understand challenges in managing work stress, work-life balance, career transitions as well as distress in office dynamics. In addition, having made numerous transitions during her life, she is deeply aware of the challenges surrounding international relocations and cross-cultural issues.
